Happy New Years Democrats

Well, the prohibitive favorite for being the next Governor for the State of Tennessee has officially signaled that he will not in fact seek that position, thus leaving a wide open field for the Republican primary, as well as dramatically improving the chances for Democrats to maintain control of the Executive branch after Bredesen leaves office.

With Bill Frist leaving the race, we can now expect two things. First, an ideological battle within the Republican party for who will be the standard bearer. You've got your more moderate Haslams in East Tennessee, and you have your wignut contingency in Marsha Blackburn.

Second, I think Democrats will pour a lot more time and money into this race than they would've had Frist been the nominee. Lincoln Davis might be more likely to run, as well as East Tennessee Real Estate magnet Doug Horne.

Democrats were more or less ready to throw in the towel with a Frist nomination...not so with anyone else in the GOP field.

Doug Horn would be difficult to beat, his credintials are beyond reproach. He is a self made millionaire and he gives back to our state he just donated a million bucks to the University of Tennessee.

If Representative Turner is for him, then he must be an asshole.

I think Frist knows the next Governor will have to raise the sales tax -- again...
