The "Suck It Cool Springs" Campaign

Members of the Metro Council are looking to find ways to boost revenue here in the city during the economic recession, and Jerry Maynard thinks he's found one small avenue for success:

"What are we not doing?" said Councilman Jerry Maynard, who asked for the late-afternoon meeting. "What can we be doing?"

Maynard then suggested that Mayor Karl Dean could lead a campaign urging shoppers to "Shop Davidson County." He said that would yield greater sales tax revenues for the city.

Other ways you can increase (or stop the decrease) in sales and property taxes? For starters, not closing down after hours clubs would help.

Allow for liquor sales in strip clubs.

Legalize and tax prostitution (though that would be a statewide issue).

Sell corporate sponsorships for public buildings, bridges, and roadways. Why the Shelby Street Bridge when you could have the Bridgestone Firestone Bridge?

Tax the State for the right to call Nashville the capital.

C'mon peoples, now is the time to think outside the box.
