Massacre At 223 Rosa Parks

It appears as if the 50 state strategy is (temporarily?) removing Tennessee from the equation as they are halting the funding for some of the paid positions in the state. Not sure entirely who is effected, other than Spokesman Wade Munday, who may or may not be hired back on through state party funds. Others that are paid via the DNC include Michael Gass, who is in charge of the voter file, and Janet Meek, East TN Coordinator.

Goldni reports that there might be an East Tennessee challenger to the current front-runner to replace Gray Sasser, Chip Forrester. According to her, there is a group of young whipper-snappers from East TN who have a candidate in mind whom they'd like to see run. Not sure as of yet who it is. Though I would be thrilled if Andy Berke made a run for it.

Won't Andy Berke already have his hands full in the State Senate?

Beth Harwell managed to do it, and considering the Dems will be in the minority...I don't know that Berke will have too much responsibility in the coming session.

Of course, he'd need to hire a good ED to do most of the grunt work, but that is a good thing. I just like the idea of Berke as the face of the party going forward.

I'm not sure I'm buying the notion that Munday is leaving so quickly because Gov.Dean's fifty state strategy is being thrown into the trashcan.

Even if that turns out to be true, Dean will be Chair of the DNC until January and all budgeting for the current DNC fiscal year was done long ago.I suspect there is more here than meets the eye.

Frankly, I think the entire TNDP leadership should be booted. All of them. I'm sure there are some good, hard-working folks at 8th & Union, but they simply failed to deliver the goods. No results, no jobs.

New, competent, energetic leadership is urgently needed at the TNDP. Maybe Andy Berke is one of the people who can bring that kind of leadership. Maybe not. I don't know much about him, to be honest.

However, I do know one thing for sure: there is plenty of talent among TN Democrats without having to go - one more time -to the well of nepotism and the good ole boy network. It's time for that crap to end. Forever.

The only people left at TNDP will be Sasser, Hayden, & Vionne Williams. Munday, Gass, and Meek will all be leaving at the end of this month.

This is all much ado about nothing. Janet Meek has been saying for months that her position, along with the others would be eliminated after this election.

They were expecting it.

Wib: "This is all much ado about nothing."

If the two top officials of the TNDP are going to remain in power after presiding over this election debacle, then this IS much ado about nothing. How pathetic.

Is no one accountable for the current deplorable state of the TNDP? Do the top leaders get to keep their jobs no matter how big the failure?
