Good Ol' Family Fight

Current Democratic Leader Gary Odom shot back at the Governor yesterday for involving himself in the race for Minority Leader of the House:

"I am confident the House Democratic Caucus will reject the governor's effort to elect his own Democratic Leader," Odom said in a release.

Odom's comments come after a Bredesen spokeswoman said this week that the governor has "trust issues" with Odom, and that other House members may be asked to carry the administration agenda if Odom is elected.

"On the one hand I am pleased to finally see the governor get involved in a Democratic election in this state but I am disappointed it is in our Caucus leadership elections," Odom said.

The vote for leader is this Sunday, so we'll see who wins the pissing contest between Odom and Bredesen. If Odom prevails, this severely weakens the ability for Bredesen to get anything substantive accomplished in his last two years.
