66 Million and Counting

Obama's popular vote total continues to rise as election commissions around the country continue to count absentee and provisional ballots. Currently the count stands at 66.056 million for Obama to 57.838 million for McCain. McCain would need an additional 1.2 million votes to surpass Kerry's '04 numbers.



California alone still has upwards of 2 million votes to count. What is amazing about California's results, were the counties that Obama won. He won San Diego, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties, all of which are heavily populated counties which went for Bush in 2004. Obama even managed to come within 4 points in the "OC," Orange County, which is the hotbed for wealthy Republicans in the state.
