Sarah Palin Is Your New Snowmobile

I'm beginning to understand what Conservatives have gone through over the past 2 years in regards to the media love of Barack Obama. Don't get me wrong, I think on just about every level Obama is a more qualified, serious, studious, and intelligent leader than Sarah Palin; however, there were many times when the fawning over Obama wasn't related to any tangible thing, but bordered on hero worship and celebrity fascination.

Enter Sarah Palin, who takes that mantle now that Obama is being seen as a more traditional politician, and increases the fluff factor exponentially.

Over at The Corner, the supposedly intellectual conservatives are fawning over Sarah Palin's wink to America last night as evidence that she's "got it".

The way the Conservative media gushes over her makes me think of a waitress at a cocktail bar who boosts her tips by leaning in closer to hear her customer, who gently puts her hand on the customer's back or thigh, all to make him (or her) think that she really likes and cares about them. She doesn't. She just wants your money, or in Sarah's case, your vote, and the sooner she can move past you and get to the next customer/voter, the happier she'll be.

What moves me past amusement to frustration is the intellectual hypocrisy with which the Conservatives now pump up Sarah Palin. For months and months they have been saying that Obama is nothing but hopeychangey and is all flash, no substance; but in walks Sarah Palin, who by any objective standards is far less versed in Government policy than all three of the other candidates, and they treat her as if she's the next Ronald Reagan. Its both frustrating and amusing at the same time.
