Facts are Anti-Semitic?

The Conservatives are in an uproar over Joe Klein's attempt to throw an often unmentioned fact out for public consumption; that Palestinians and Arabs are a Semitic people, therefore calling them anti-Semitic doesn't make much sense.

They essentially equate this quibble with holocaust denials.

It may be annoying to some to point out this little factoid, but it is true.

Just like I sometimes point out to conservatives like Krumm or Uncle that they don't really understand the First Amendment if they think it covers the seating chart on "O Force One" or allowing bloggers to use copyrighted materials to create bumper stickers and sell them for profit.

Juan Cole rightfully defends Rashid Khalidi, who by all measures is a perfectly decent person who just happens to disagree with some of the political establishment on the area of emphasis in the Palestinian and Israeli struggle. Quite frankly, I'm sick of the one-sided treatment we give this issue, and the demonization that is incurred against anyone who happens to take a view counter to the prevailing wisdom that Israel is our bestest friend and the Palestinians are pieces of shit...which is essentially what the right has been trumpeting the past few days. Its really quite disgusting. If McCain can't work with moderates like Khalidi, how do we ever expect to move forward on the problems in the Middle East?

I think you're overly and unnecessarily broad here. Plenty on the right don't buy the prevailing wisdom. In fact what amazes me is how it has become the dominant wisdom. I don't pretend to be an expert on the Middle East but my suspicion is that things might be better for everyone if every American political figure didn't have to express such dedication to protecting Israel like it was the 51st state.

Well, of course there are those on the "right" that don't adhere to this philosophy, Pat Buchanan comes to mind, but of those still in good standing with the Republican party, it seems to be the prevailing wisdom of the day.

Then shouldn't be problem releasing the tape.

It would be if the LA Times' source who gave them the tape told them not to release it.

Or maybe Barack Hussein Obama threatened to sick the Nation of Islam on them if they released this incendiary tape which shows Obama, Ayers, and Khalidi sitting off at a table wistfully dreaming of the day when they'd infiltrate the highest office in the land and bring it down from the inside out to create a radically liberal/radically conservative Islamic paradise.

Its always somebody elses fault. i can't even read your whole post. During the summer someone looked at Barry's passport and all hell broke loose. joe the plumber...shouldn't have asked a question. Credit card fraud prevention disabled...hey we're doing all we can. Please. Oh wait a minute is Ayers at that table...I thought he was just a guy in the neighborhood...I mean we served on a board together...I mean 2 boards..I mean...

No, its always Obama's fault...don't you see? He controls everything. He is the Obamassiah. He controls editorial ethics at the LA Times, he controls who gets to speak at every event he's been to, he is The One.

I don't get why all these liberals don't understand that a vote for Obama is a vote for the Anti-Christ, I mean, c'mon, the signs are all there.

So I guess we are polar opposites. i think he controls everything..you think he controls nothing. Yet you think he's the greatest president you've ever seen. Fan of American idol are you?

Sean Braisted said...

I don't think he's the greatest President I've ever seen because he isn't President yet. I do think he's the greatest Presidential candidate in my lifetime.

I also never said he didn't control anything, I just don't see how he has control over the journalistic decisions of the LA Times. Whenever you find something that could possibly be a negative, you go ahead and assume Obama is sitting on the phone chatting with the editor of the LA Times begging him to not release a tape. But if that were the case, why wouldn't Obama have just told them not to report on the tape to begin with?

Facts are anti-Semitic, much in the way that reality has a well-known liberal bias.

I would like to draw a distinction here, and that is that most Jews are for a two state solution, and it's the right wing Christians who want to fight for Israel. Why? Because (we) Jews play a crucial role in act three of their play, and the setting is Israel.

So it's not the Jews, but the Christians who push the anti Palestinian rhetoric, for the most part. (Ultra Orthodox Jews are the exception--they are also about 10 percent of all Jews, which means about 90 percent of all Jews are for a two state solution)

I'm pro Israel. I also have nothing against Palestinians, except the ones who want to kill us.
