Ross Alderman Killed In Crash

The Davidson County Public Defender, Ross Alderman, was killed in a fatal motorcycle accident over the weekend. Ken Whitehouse has a tribute article up about him which asks prominent Nashvillians to discuss their thoughts on his passing. Mayor Karl Dean was Alderman's predecessor in that office, and says:

On a personal level, Ross will be remembers for his dry wit, sincerity and his wide range of interests. Ross was a very hard worker. He was almost always the first person to arrive at the Public Defender's office, or any other Metro office, in morning.

Ross is the thread that runs through the modern history of the Public Defender's Office. My thoughts are with his wife, Patsy, and son, Noah.

This is truly a great loss. The Tennessee Justice Project expresses their deepest sympathy.

What a shame. I knew Ross fro the Sheriff's 287(g) Advisory Counsel. He did have a dry wit, and was relaxed and easy, but thoroughly professional.

My father has been the 15th Judicial District Public Defender since 1989 and has known Ross for many years. He, and I, mourn the passing of a fine man and terrific public servant.
