Better Know a Senate Candidate

With over 10% reporting, get to know your next Democratic Senate candidate...Gary Davis.

He was born in 1954.

Update:

OK, I've found a little more out about the possible Democratic nominee, Gary Davis.

Apparently, I'm the only person from the "press" to consider calling him, even though with 10% reporting he was leading in the statewide results.

Gary says he's tried everything he could to get the media to give him some coverage, but they've ignored his candidacy to date. He says that he's been traveling across the state to many different counties, and while he doesn't know if he'll win some of the bigger counties, he does believe that he will pick up some of the more rural counties (which so far he has).

Gary describes himself as a reformist liberal, and through my conversation, I'd say he's more of a libertarian liberal. While he doesn't personally support gay marriage, he supports their right to do so, and he also considers himself pro-choice.

On the environment, Mr. Davis says that he "doesn't personally believe in global warming, but rather global polution," and thinks we should all come together to start cleaning up our environment a little bit at a time.

According to Gary Davis, "the people are the answers we need" and so he doesn't pretend to have an answer to everything, as the Government's job is to get out of the way of the people so that they might find new solutions to problems.

Ultimately, even if Gary Davis doesn't win...the fact that he got so far with zero name recognition among the political circles or press, shows that we don't know everything, and should never count out the underdog.

Update II:

With %39.4 reporting, Gary Davis is ahead by less than 500 votes.

Update III:

W/ %45.5 reporting, Tuke has taken a 3K vote lead...and Shelby hasn't reported yet, which is (probably) good news for Tuke.
