Speaking of Socialism

Blake Wylie makes like the Chinese and ignores copyright laws to make a few bucks. And no, making a profit off of using an organization's logo is not covered under "satire".

Throw him in the brigg!!! Actually it is pretty funny, except more important then copyright law are the "Don't make fun of Obama" laws. Lighten up. Oh yea...does the copyright thing apply to presidential seals?

I don't care if he does it, I just find it funny that the capitalist has no respect for intellectual property rights.

As for Presidential seals, I don't think you can copyright government property...but you aren't supposed to use official symbols, unless altered.

If Wylie wanted to alter the Obama logo, that'd be one thing, but as of right now, as far as I know it is a copyright violation.

you mean that copyright that they make available for download:

SayUncle,

I don't know what is so hard to understand about the difference between using a logo for fair use, and using it for profit.

You can use the logo until your heart is content, until you begin to make a profit off of it, then it becomes a violation.

ah, i did not see that disclaimer at the bottom.

Another vexing display of ignorance from the KKKristian right.

Meh.

Considering we have a public political campaign who has trademarked a logo and it's not a private corporation that's running for a public office, I don't see that this attempt at creating an air of hypocrisy around my capitalistic intentions is going anywhere.

But...just to be sure...I'm going to now start selling copies of artwork done by me for $5, and I'll include a "got socialism?" bumper sticker for free. :P

Heh, nice work around :-)

Maybe if Obama had taken public financing my point would've been moot.

I thought about that point as well. :)
