Service Employees for Stewart
I have it from a reliable source, and confirmed with SEIU political director Mark Naccarato, that the Service Employees International Union will be endorsing Mike Stewart for the 52nd District House Seat being vacated by Rep. Rob Briley.
According to Mr. Naccarato, there wasn't any specific issue at play, but the committee which decided the endorsement felt that Mr. Stewart had the best grasp of the issues facing workers and the district. A formal announcement is expected later today.
That makes three the number of labor organizations that have chosen Mike Stewart over his challenger Eric Stansell; the MNEA and Communication Workers of America had endorsed him last week.
Update: Official statement:
"There are two good pro-labor candidates running to represent District 52," said Mark Naccarato, Political Coordinator for SEIU Local 205. "But we believe that Mike Stewart has a better connection with the residents of the district. Our offices are in District 52 and we know that Mike's been very involved with neighborhood groups and local community activists – all of whom speak very highly of him. We also think that his past political experience will allow him to hit the ground running in the Legislature on day one and be a more effective advocate for issues that affect working Tennesseans".

Who does SEIU represent?
Well obviously, all of those service industry workers are in the pocket of Waller Lansden.
This union endorsement is just more proof that Mike is in the pocket of corporate America, because. . . no, wait. Oh, yeah - this proves that Waller Lansden. . . Hmmm. Well if Mike really knew anything about his district. . . which he has lived in for. . . 14 years. . . Hey Eric, what am I supposed to say again?
