It appears as though Rep. Steve Cohen doesn't take too kindly to his congressional colleague breaking tradition and supporting his primary opponent:
“I have to question whether or not, if I was an African-American and had that seat and a Delta ran against me, would [Tubbs Jones] be involved? I doubt it,” Cohen told The Hill.
[snip]
Tubbs Jones said she was supporting Tinker because they are friends and sorority sisters.
She then said that Cohen sought to disrupt the fundraiser by sitting outside it and chastising people as they walked by.
“He absolutely was, and I went outside and spoke to him,” she said. “I told him that I thought his conduct was inappropriate.
“He did try to intimidate the people coming and going. He sat out front and called out their names. … Since he’s accusing me of holding a fundraiser for Nikki Tinker just because she’s African-American, I want to put on the table the conduct that I observed.”
Well, in fairness to Stephanie Tubbs Jones, she was more than willing to support the white candidate while attacking the black candidate in the Presidential race...so maybe its more of a female thing. But even with the support of Tubbs Jones, and the tacit support of Harold Ford Jr. via his new bride, I don't see any indication that Tinker will beat Cohen in this primary challenge.

Cohen flat out called Jones a racist in the process. What an idiot. It is sad that he is my Rep in Congress. He would never have been elected last time if the field did not have 12 other African Americans running in the primary. He only got about 30% of the primary votes, but that was enough in a split field. I think he may a closer call than you expect in this primary.
