Ahmedinijad on Nukes

Say what you will about him being a crazy religious bastard, and perhaps he can't be believed, but I wish there was an American politician that would point out the simple truth that in the last 60 years nuclear weapons have done nothing but expend billions upon billions of dollars (4 trillion+ according to some estimates) on technology that will, in most likelihood, never be used.

Brian Williams: Is Iran's goal to have nuclear power, or to be a nuclear power in the sense of possessing weapons. It is obviously the great fear of Israel and others in this region. And it seems to stop the prospect of talks and better relations again and again...

Ahmadenijad: ...we are not working to manufacture a bomb, we don't believe in a nuclear bomb. We also think that it will not effect political relations. The "Zionist regime" has an arsenal of hundreds of nuclear warheads, has this arsenal helped the "Zionists" to prevail in the conflict inside Lebanon?

Again, did nuclear arms help the Soviet Union from falling and disintegrating?

Did nuclear bombs help the US prevail inside Iraq or Afghanistan for that matter? Nuclear bombs belong to the 20th century. We are living in a new century. We think that, pertaining to the nuclear issue, that an inappropriate measure or action was taken.

Nuclear energy must not be equaled to a nuclear bomb...this is a disservice to the society of man. Nuclear energy is very beneficial and it is very clean by the way; all nations should use it.

Now, I don't know if I can quite believe them, simply because having a nuclear bomb would significantly reduce Iran's chances of being invaded by the United States at some point. We only seem to attack nations who want to build WMD, not nations who already have.

If you are really bored, you can sit through the 40 minute interview with "Mad Mahmoud".
