I'm Perplexed
Sooo, the Bush administration says that North Korea is no longer a "state sponsor of terror". OK, why? Well, they gave an accounting of their nuclear program to the Chinese...so? Were they supplying terrorists with nuclear weapons before? No.
What was their connection to terrorism in 1988 that warranted their placement on the list in the first place, and what factors have changed? Best I can tell it was selling scud missiles to Iran, not sure that charge has been relevant for quite some time.
Just to get this straight: Cuba bad, North Korea good. Whatever...I'm so tired of our nation's schizophrenic approach to foreign affairs, a little consistency please.
Update:
For the list of charges against the "State Sponsors of Terror," go here.
North Korea apparently kidnapped some people in the 1950s.
Cuba's official "government statements and the government-controlled press rarely speak out against al-Qaida or other designated Foreign Terrorist Organizations."
The US Government has jumped the shark.
