**Breaking** Fred Hobbs Apologizes
Fred Hobbs, the embattled member of the Tennessee Democratic Executive Committee, who last week wondered aloud to the City Paper as to whether or not Sen. Obama had ties to terrorism, has seen the error of his ways and written a letter to his colleagues on the committee:
I am writing to apologize for my recent remarks about Senator Barack Obama. My statements to various Nashville media were wrong and offensive. I apologize if my remarks in any way hurt any of our great Democratic candidates, including Senator Obama. Also, I apologize if my comments embarrassed our state or my friends at the Tennessee Democratic Party.
I was not as well prepared as I should have been when speaking with reporters, and I should have taken more time to research Senator Obama's positions. My comments did reflect questions I had after what I had seen reported on Fox News, but I should have taken some time to check the accuracy of what I saw on television before speaking publicly. My statement that Senator Obama "may be terrorist-connected" was incorrect, and I apologize for making it.
As a lifelong Democrat, I believe in the values and ideals of the Democratic Party. I am honored to represent the 13th Senatorial District, and I look forward to working with Senator Obama, each of you, and every Democrat in the 13th District to elect Democrats this November.
This was a solid job by Gray Sasser in nipping a potential problem in the bud, and exercising some measure of control over those who present themselves as official members of the TNDP.

I don't know if it makes it "all better," but during the heat of any campaign, people are more predisposed to negative stories about the opposing candidate. There are a lot of Hillary supporters out there who seem to buy into every negative story about Obama simply because they want to have a negative opinion of him...same goes with Obama supporters re: Hillary.
He said he's sorry, promised to support the nominee, and I see no reason to take it further.
I wish Rep. Davis would say something similar to "I look forward to working with Senator Obama, each of you, and every Democrat in the 13th District to elect Democrats this November."

It's a long haul from being predisposed to believe negative stories in the "heat of a campaign" to suggesting that Obama has terrorist connections.
But whatever. I guess Hobbs is a good guy and I stand corrected.

Not that I care about the intramural foolishness of leftistcrats, but I love the "if I offended anyone" nonsense in statements and letters that appears when those writing or speaking are not truly contrite.
