You realize, of course, that this scene was filmed in Georgia, which is where the movie's action takes place. Who won the Georgia Dem. primary? Oh, that was Obama, wasn't it?
Ridiculing southern whites is definitely a good strategy for winning the election, isn'it it?
Wow! He filled up his gas tank for $4.99! How cool is that?!
I forgot what a good movie Deliverance was. And from a good book too. You can’t help but smile at that scene.
Unless of course, you’re a progressive, then you just wallow in the joy of stereotypes and bigotry. And it reinforces your contempt for any Southerner with political views different from your own.
I agree with the poster above: someone needs to get out more often.
With apologies to Rudyard Kipling the poet; reworded version of his poem “the White Man’s Burden* which praised the “benefits” of colonialism. The new “Sahib” or “Bwanna” is our left-wing media and their cronies; sending out their journalists missionaries to correct(deconstruct)those vulgar Appalachian savages from their “unenlightened” worldview:
The Left Wing’s Burden
Take up the Left wing’s burden Send forth the same old breed -- Go bind your journalists to brief exile To serve your hillbillies’ need; To wait away from starbucks On fluttered folk and wild -- Your captive, sullen peoples, Half devil and half child.
Take up the Left-Wing’s burden -- In condescension to abide, To veil the threat of exposure And hide the evidence of pride; By duplicitous speech and lies, An hundred times mad plain. To take another's profit, And steal another's gain.
Take up the Left-wing’s burden -- Our savage campaigns for “peace” Shut down those coarse distractions And bid “bitter” ignorance cease; And when your goal is nearest The presidency for others sought, Watch guns and Small-town Folly Bring all your hope to nought.
Take up the Left wing’s burden -- And reap an entitled reward: The blame of those ye enlighten, The hate of those you deconstruct The vulgar cry of the working class ye condescend (Ah, slowly!) toward the light: -- "Why brought ye us from bondage, "Our loved Appalachian night?"
Take up the Left-wings burden -- Ye distort what Obama meant -- Nor call too loud on freedom To cloak your true intent; By all ye preach or publish, By all ye leave or do, The silent, sullen peoples Shall weigh your party and you.

All Hail Bwanna Sean
Do you need a native appalachian to haul your monthy supply of Starbucks out to the “Heart of Darkness” land?

Ah yes-- "Bwanna"Sean is from Ohio-- land of tolerance and racial harmony.
Paul, I live in Cincinnati; a blue collar city in its heart. Hardly a Mecca for intellectuals; yet I often overhear barely literate people disparaging "all those dumb hillbillies" in Kentucky, West Virginia, the South and so forth. At times it appears that there is a distinct relation between the level of their stupidity and their bigotry. Cincinnati is also famous for its racial riots, police brutality and general racial ugliness all around. Of course those dumb hicks wouldn't understand how a superior culture expresses itself.
Ragnell "Nice poem...be careful though, you might be labeled an egghead or something. Sean"
I'm with you there Anon, I don't consider Cincinatti a part of Ohio, Kentucky can have 'em. The only part of Ohio I consider home is Columbus, so feel free to berate or belittle us as you wish. I'll start out.
How do you get an OSU Grad off your front porch? Tip him for the Pizza.

A) Wasn't making fun of Southerners...making fun of Appalachians.
B) Not running for office.

You sound like a bigoted asshole.
"You sound like a bigoted asshole."
No, no, no. He sounds progressive.
After all, what's more progressive than laughing at disabled people?

Sounds to me like someone who
a) never gets out or urban Nashville
b) probably wasn't born in the south
Am I right?
A) I do get out, and yes I live in Nashville.
B) You are very correct, I was born in Ohio...where West Virginia jokes are commonplace, but I guess we are a bit sensitive down here.

Loved it.
I see no reason not to call a spade a spade. Just don't say "spade" in West Va or folks will get all riled up for a lynchin'
