Obama Calls for Talks with Hamas

And of course by Obama, I mean John McCain circa 2006:

McCAIN: "They're the government; sooner or later we are going to have to deal with them, one way or another, and I understand why this administration and previous administrations had such antipathy towards Hamas because of their dedication to violence and the things that they not only espouse but practice, so . . . but it's a new reality in the Middle East. I think the lesson is people want security and a decent life and decent future, that they want democracy. Fatah was not giving them that."

The Straight Talk Express has broken two axles, lost 3 tires, and had an engine fire in the past few months. I guess Hamas' "worst nightmare" is to sit down to tea and crumpets with John McCain.

This whole flip flop issue, kind of just needs to go away. It makes the assumption that the world is static. Things change, I would hope opions would to. I'd be more scared of the person whose views were exactly the same today as they were 5 years ago.

TC,

Well, I'd like to see where McCain acknowledged when and why he changed his mind. It seems more like he just adopted his blustering as a way to attack a political opponent, not because he saw the error in his previous judgment.

I wasn't talking just about this instance, but in general.

Speeking of changing. looking at Barry on TV and there his flag pin. Please apply your arguement. Again overall, I don't care, but to make a logical arguement about, "How you carry it in your heart" and then when its convient, pin it on...kinda lame. But what do expect.

TC,

I agree, a good leader can change their mind, but they oughta be able to show how and why they changed their mind, so it doesn't appear to be poll driven.

agreed....now about that flag pin...poll driven?:)

Sean Braisted said...

His response was that it was given to him by a veteran who asked him to wear it...poll driven? At least in part, yes. But whats worse? A poll driven foreign policy, or a poll driven choice of wardrobe.

That's true. The flag pin was...just like choosing a tie...or a pair of pants...no meaning. This is not the first of these incidents nor will it be the last. The only consistancy is the spin. You give a speech on why you don't think the wearing of the pin morally comfortable with you, then when it gets hot...here comes the pin. You give a speech on race, where you say you could no more denounce your minister then you could the black race...he takes his act on the road, denounced. Tell a story about where you gave a speech and people were so uncomfortable that they didn't applaud...not according to the video. Then again what am I doing...I'm playing that same ol game. Gotcha politics. I keep forgetting that we are not getting bogged down in that anymore. Oh well at least McCain still drinking.
