Jim Brown Visits the Senate
Former Fullback for the Cleveland Browns, Jim Brown, stopped by the Tennessee State Senate last week to promote his program Amer-I-Can, where he received an extremely warm reception from the Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey:
While there is no doubt that Jim Brown has a lot of accomplishments and done a lot of good, it begs the question, where does the guilt by association game end?
Many people, especially on the right, have been critical for Obama knowing Bill Ayers, who in the 1970s was a member of a radical group, but was never convicted of any crime. He has since gone on to be a pillar of the Chicago community, a member of the Daley administration, and a nationally renowned advocate for education reform.
Likewise, Jim Brown has been accused of throwing his girlfriend off a 2 story balcony, and many other instances of domestic abuse. Does this mean that Republicans like Ron Ramsey support wife beating?
In life, you take people as they are, not as they were. I don't run my friends through a criminal background check, and quite frankly even if something bad came up, I still wouldn't hold it against them.
