The Double Standard Double Standard
Nathan Moore is quite perturbed that Obama's recent gaffes/mistakes haven't been given front page coverage by the New York Times. And instead of simply criticizing Obama (because he knows this really isn't a big deal), he does what conservatives do best...complains about a mythical double standard.
Whether it’s 57 states, the wrong Nazi concentration camp, or complimenting the “many fallen soldiers here with us today”, the very junior senator from Illinois has apparently acquired a lifetime pass. He is the messiah, ergo he cannot be wrong. He should watch the 57 states, though. If Hillary Clinton finds out where any of those other seven are, this primary will go well into December.
Have you not heard of one of those? Count me as unshocked.
If John McCain had said any of this, he would be derided as too old and his mental health questioned. If Hillary Clinton had said any of this, she would have been decimated by media attacks - in fact, she already has, over the Medvedev answer in the 1,623rd debate, and over her poorly constructed comments about the 1968 Democrat primary.
Of course, if you haven't heard of any of those, that means that your only source of news on the internet is Nathan Moore...because those have been covered ad naseum by the time Nathan picked it up.
Take for instance, when Obama said he'd been to 57 instead of 47 states. It was covered by MSNBC First Read, The LA Times, Reuters, and I could find more if not for the fact that in every comment of every news story or blog post of Obama; somebody mentions the "57 states" gaffe.
Not 5 minutes after Obama mistakenly said Auschwitz instead of Buchenwald, the RNC and the news media pounced on this, and eventually Obama had to clarify. Of course, the media could make it a story for longer (if Joe Scarborough weren't still out he'd be talking about it every 15 minutes), but the question would be...why?
Is there a news story in Obama saying 57 when we all knew he meant 47? Or when he ad-libbed "and I see many of them in the audience here today" after saying "unbroken line of fallen heroes". Not really.
Of course, the Auschwitz gaffe is actually somewhat of a story because either his great-uncle did or did not liberate a concentration camp...and so while Obama should've said Buchenwald (or perhaps he should've known that Auschwitz was liberated by the Soviets -- I did not), it is somewhat newsworthy to note that aspect of his family history.
My ultimate point being, if you wanna attack Obama (or just make fun of him), go right ahead. But enough with the conspiratorial, double standard complaints...its rather annoying coming from the Left or the Right.

Its annoying because its true. The watch MSNBC and you get a true definition of fawning. Its absolutely ridiculous. If it were Hillary she'd be called an outright liar. However, the man who lives by words, eh, its just a gaffe. We all know what he meant. Uncle...Great Uncle...friend of the family...hey somebody was somewhere. Oh well only 6 more months.
TC,
Had Hillary dodged sniper fire and ran to her vehicle in Sarajevo and accidentally said Tuzla...then yes, I think the press wouldn't have made a big deal of it.
Similarly, had Obama just fabricated out of thin air a story about his great-uncle (I typically refer to my great-uncles/aunts as uncles or aunts) helping to liberate a concentration camp; then the story would be getting much more play. Instead, he mixed up Buchenwald with the more famous Auschwitz.
