Do The Right Thing

Joe Lieberman, of the Connecticut for Lieberman Party, writes of his political beau John McCain:

The essence of good political leadership is the courage to do what you believe is right when it is unpopular and the skill to bring people of differing viewpoints together to get things done.

No better example can be found than his recent support of a Gas Tax "holiday". Despite the near unanimous belief among economists, liberal and conservative, that this would not only be pointless, but potentially harmful to the American consumer...John McCain stands his ground. Reason, Logic, and Facts will not stop him from doing the right thing.

Instead, he will criticize his detractors like Tom Friedman for living in New York (he actually lives in Bethesda, MD) and being chauffeured around (because all New Yorkers have chauffeurs apparently)...despite the fact that McCain lives in Washington DC and probably hasn't filled up his own gas tank since the 1980s. That is real leadership...deflect criticisms and attack criticizers.

In all seriousness, I highly recommend watching this clip of John McCain on CNN...and people thought George Bush was an idiot:

Yeah, who wants to listen to a bunch of egg heads who study this shit for a living? Much better to ask some dude at a gas station what he thinks, that is real leadership.

:D
Well said.

That's the mentality we're being forced to deal with.
Between Bosnia Betty and McGastax, George Bush may be challenged for his World Heavyweight Champion of Stupid title.

Neither one of them would make good leaders simply because they, by their own admissions, are not good followers.
