Who Understands More?
John McCain's campaign, in response to Sen. Obama calling them out on their pandering over the gas tax, issued a press release stating:
“Barack Obama doesn’t understand the effect of high gas prices on the American economy. Senator Obama voted for a gas tax reduction before he opposed it, he has no plan for relief from record-high gas prices for Americans this summer, and he’s the empty-tank candidate in this race.”
Zing! Wow, how effing pathetic.
Please, Sen. McCain, explain to us all the drastic effect of cutting the price of gas by 18 cents without having any specific plan to A) recoup federal losses or B) make sure that the gas companies don't just pocket the difference and not pass on the savings to consumers?
"Senator Obama voted for a gas tax reduction before he opposed it" - Do you really wanna open up that can of worms Sen. McFlip-Flop? So, Obama passes a statewide reduction in the gas-tax once in 2000, one that turned out not to work, and he's now locked in to support any future gas tax 'holiday'?
"no plan for relief from record-high gas prices for Americans this summer" - Remember that check we are all getting? That was the relief. $600 in my pocket will mean a whole helluva lot more than $25-30 saved over the course of 3 months.
"he’s the empty-tank candidate" - If the Straight-Talk Express runs on empty promises and half-brained ideas; McCain's tank is most definitely full.
