Hobbs, "Is McCain an Idiot or Insane"?
William Howard Hobbs, in an attempt to attack Barack Obama, inadvertently attacks Sen. John McCain, who has also called for cuts in unnecessary defense spending.
"He has named the places he is going to look –discretionary defense and non-defense spending, defense procurement, programs that have failed the OMB test," among others, Holtz-Eakin said.
Of course, in the post-9/11 Rambo Republican party, any discussion of easing back our spending on fancy toys is met with derision and questions of patriotism...but it was George HW Bush and Ronald Reagan who put into plan the reduction in American forces and military spending that Republicans now bash Bill Clinton for.
Simply put, the GOP's simplistic, hyperbolic, faux-patriotic bullshit will [hopefully] be coming to an end this year.

All points well made Brother Braisted, but can you first do something about that pain-in-the-ass who is still in the Dem primary?
We're trying to do something about her!
Barack's list of cuts amounts to disarming America. He listed weapons systems and crucial R&D. McCain is going to reduce spending, but nowhere has he said he will cancel vital weapons systems like the ones Obama listed.
It is simply idiotic to cancel development of new nuclear weaponry given that we're likely to be up against a nuclear-armed Islamofacist regime at some point in the next 10-15 years.
One of the weapons in development that Obama would cancel is a nuclear bunker-buster capable of destroying hardened underground facilities of the kind Iran is using in its nuclear weapons development program.
Obama doesn't want America to have to ability to take those sites out. Why?
McCain, I'm certain, would not be for canceling that project.
WHH,
I know you are wedded to your precious toys, but the truth is if we are going to promote Nuclear Disarmament abroad, we can't keep building nuclear weapons here.
We have enough of a Nuclear Arsenal to wipe out the world a dozen times over, we don't need more.
As for "bunker buster" bombs, we have them, and we used them against Saddam in Iraq. The Nuclear bunker buster was defunded back in 2005 (under GOP control) and isn't much different than a regular Nuke.
