Boomerang?

Its still early, but polling evidence shows (and this will be contradicted by mid-afternoon probably) that the "bitter" controversy has started to come back at Hillary.

Rasmussen:

Obama 50, Clinton 41 (48-44 Yesterday)

Favorability Obama 49 (+1) / 49 (-1)
Favorability Clinton 43 (-3) / 54 (+3)

Quinnipac Pennsylvania

50-44 Clinton vs Obama (previously 50-41)

Though Rasmussen shows the opposite trend:

50-41 Clinton vs Obama (previously 48-43)

Not surprisingly, Clinton continues to poll well with those who cling to their guns, religion, anti-trade and anti-immigrant sentiments; whilst Obama does best with those who do not.

Ultimately, I think Clinton overplayed her hand a bit. By coming out as a gun-toting, bible-thumpin', whiskey pounding good ol' gal, Hillary just played to her weakness, which is honesty. Its hard to swallow that Hillary Clinton is just some good ol' country folk, when for decades she has been attending and throwing dinner parties with the same "San Francisco" Democrats that she is now attacking.

Hillary Clinton is a blunt instrument. Tell her to be soft, she'll be real soft. Tell her to be tough, she'll be real tough. Tell her to relate to small town folk, and she'll be the best goddam small town school marm East of the Mississippi. But when subetly is needed, Hillary Clinton is often found wanting, and I believe that has been her biggest problem all along.
