Rinks Goes Bye-Bye
Rep. Randy Rinks, the House Democratic Caucus chair and longtime ally of Speaker Jimmy Naifeh, announced today that he would not be seeking reelection.
“It has been an honor to serve the people of Tennessee during these critical times in our state’s history,” Rinks (D-Savannah) said in a statement. “I am forever grateful to the citizens of District 71 for giving me the opportunity to serve and be a part of such an amazing body of government.”
One source in the Plaza suggests that Gary Odom or Mark Maddox might be potential replacements for Rep. Rink's caucus chairmanship. Though I'd be interested to see of Rep. Mike Turner, who heads the Davidson County delegation, takes a stab at the position.

Rinks wants to replace Riley Darnell as Secretary of State, while others want him to run for Wilder's seat.
Of course, if we don't get the Senate back, Rinks may have no chance at all at Darnell's seat, which is appointed by the lege.
Why would Odom want to be Caucus Chair when he is already Majority Leader? That doesn't make much sense to me.
Doesn't make much sense to me either, that was just a name thrown out there.
This surprised me because he had held a few public fundraisers in recent months at Pickwick. But with the real estate market being the way it is maybe he just wanted to go home and take the helm of his real estate biz and ride out the storm. The former Hardin County Mayor Joe Barker(D),Bob Shutt and Vance Dennis(GOPers) are a few of the names who might run for this seat.
