Presidential Politics
While I'm glad that Bush endorsed McCain...and hopes he campaigns vigorously on his behalf. Was anyone else bothered that he did it on the White House lawn? I just think there is something a bit untoward about endorsing a political candidate there.

You're really reaching now. If Bush announced the endorsement in Hillary or Obama's front yard, that'd be untoward.
Bush's endorsement won't help McCain but it won't hurt. Everybody expects it. I doubt Bush will do much campaigning but will help more with fund raising.
Sorry if I find using Presidential property for partisan campaign purposes.
Would the Lincoln Bedroom count as Presidential property?
Yes it would, and it shouldn't be used for political purposes either.
While your feelings are noble they're not very realistic. I can't remember when the White House and any other piece of public real estate in D.C. wasn't used for partisan purposes on some occasion.
Sean - I agree with you completely. If it was a Democratic president endorsing Obama or Clinton - I would feel the same way. Although something within me believes if we had a sitting Democrat in the White House, Ciardi would agree with you. Bush's endorsement of McCain will hurt him, Bush is considered the worst president in history...personally, I am thrilled by the endorsement!
I'm bothered by everything that W does anywhere!
