The Old Codger Remains...for now

Despite a report from Ken Whitehouse, it appears that John Wilder can't completely make up his mind as to whether or not he will run for re-election. Wilder, who captivates his fellow members with stories about cotton pickin', seems to be wavering according to Sen. Joe Haynes.

Sen. Joe Haynes (D-Goodlettsville), the chairman of the Democratic Caucus, said he “doesn’t have a clue” whether Wilder would seek re-election.

"He’s told me he’s going to run and then he’s told me he’s not going to run and then he’s told me again he’s going to run,” Haynes said. “So I don’t know.”

The 86 year old State Senator has been in and out of the hospital in recent months, and while he served for 36 years as LT. Governor, he is unlikely to be chosen again should the Democrats retake the Senate in November.

Wilder is something else. I know one minister over there Sean who got so mad at Stallings and the state GOP back in '04 for their attacks on John. That he went out in his yard and ripped up his Bush and Marsha campaign signs and burned them. I cant think of another democrat in this country that would make a conservative do such a thing.
