Least Favorite Democrat of the Week

And the award goes to.....John DeBerry, congrats! That was no easy feat considering the Presidential race we are in right now.

John DeBerry is the House sponsor of a bill that would, "[prohibit] any individual who is cohabitating in a sexual relationship outside of a marriage that is valid under the constitution and laws of this state from adopting a minor."

Well, at least its not discriminatory against gays because it includes unmarried singles, right? Why now John? Why seek to seperate adopted children from the parents who love them? Why keep children in foster care when there might be stable, affluent couple who are willing to care over them and love them on a permanent basis? Why give in to the prejudice, when giving into compassion and understanding feels so much better in the end.

Obama was right, there are some in the Black [and White for that matter] community who have a long way to go.

Update:

I have heard one theory, and that is the John DeBerry sponsored the bill so that the religious right would shut up about it, and that it would likely be heavily amendment to change the discriminatory nature of it. If that is true, I still think its bad... Until we are willing to stand tall on the issue, and be proud to say that we believe that children should have the opportunity to live in a loving home, than we will always be on the defensive with the social right.
