Congressman Crash and Burn
Congressman (her term, not mine) Marsha "Crash and Burn" Blackburn needs help. There was a video posted at Crooks and Liars (courtesy of S-Town Mike) which shows her utter and hopeless addiction...to GOP talking points. Yes, Blackburn was posed a question that any Congressperson with such reverence and love for the military, as she claims to have, should know...the last person in the military from her district to have died in the Iraq war.
I guess in order for Marsha Blackburn to care about someone from the military, they must have a chest adorned with medals, and instead of being attacked by mortars and IUDs, they must be attacked by a vicious and cold-blooded full page black and white ad in a Newspaper a handful of people inside of her district ever read, by a group with about as much relevance to our Nation as the People's Front of Judea. And this is supposed to be the Conservative Savior of the Tennessee Republican Party? Keep lookin'.

I saw her clip, it was pitiful. Also, she kinda talked herself into a hole, by saying since she has a military base in her district, it's ... ooops, she can't say it's hard because there are so many casualties so she went off on this "sensitivity" tangent.
Anyway, that got me wondering: Ft. Campbell is in her district? Really? So I went and looked. I do believe this is what they call Gerrymandering.
You know, they went to SO much trouble to make sure that little feather of population didn't end up in either John Tanner or Bart Gordon's districts, I mean she should be embarassed that she doesn't know any more about that peninsual of the state that so obviously does not belong in the 7th district.
Just wondering who the "they" are that went to SO much trouble to make sure that Ft. Campbell was not put in Congressman Tanner or Congressman's Gordon's District?
Just wondering who the "they" are ...
Me too. I'm going to guess it's the political insiders who collude in drawing these things up.
Republicans should be upset about this, too. Lincoln Davis' district is almost as bizarre as Marsha Blackburn's. If I lived in the Southwest corner of Williamson County I'd certainly want to know how my issues have anything to do with those of the folks who live in Campbell County.
I'm sure the Democrats don't want Williamson County and Ft. Campbell just as the Republicans don't want Nashville and Memphis. But tough luck. Divide these things up by population, quite trying to shoehorn pockets of population into reliably Democratic or Republican districts. It's manipulative and it's not serving the PEOPLE, it serves POLITICIANS.
It's one reason people get disillusioned with the whole process.
You are all terribly mistaken in this. It turns out that the soldier in question did not live in her district. The host either was misinformed, or was trying to set up a hit on an impressive Congresswoman, but failed.
Actually, it appears his last legal address was in Tennessee. But regardless, she still didn't know the name of the last person to die in her district, she was too busy focusing on the advertising policies of a newspaper in New York City to be concerned with the goings on in her district.
